Access Arrangements

Dear Families

We are pleased to announce that everything is on track for us to move into our new school building the week before the Easter break!

We will be having an ‘Information Day’ on the 24th April 2:30-5pm (Inset Day), where current parents and pupils will have the opportunity to take a look around and see their classrooms. More information to follow.

The first day back for the children after Easter will be Tuesday 25 April 2017. As you may already be aware, we will initially access the new building via the current Dolphin School entrance on Cheltenham Road and not via the new Bath Buildings (until the road improvements have been made to make it safe for everyone).

Therefore, we have drawn up an interim arrival and departure plan which aims to stagger the arrival and departure times at the beginning and end of the school day. Please could you take note of the interim travel plan below and ensure that you stick to these times and locations.

Finally, I would like to thank parents and carers for their continuing support during this particularly busy time for the school. If you have any further questions, please take a look at our FAQ section. (FAQ)

Kind regards,

Shelley Dixon

As you may be aware, there have been some delays relating to the highway works which are out of the control of the school. Therefore, we will be using the Cheltenham Road entrance and we will access the new building via an internal access path (with stairs) until the road improvements are completed. It is anticipated that these road improvements will be undertaken during the school summer holidays when the roads are quieter. Safety & Parking Ensuring the safety of our children, parents, staff and the wider community is of great importance to us, especially during the interim access period. Therefore, we have put in place a number of measures to ensure that safety is our first priority.
Where possible, please park away from the school. Please do not park on or mount the pavements. We encourage walking, cycling and public transport. Please note bikes and scooters can be parked at the current Dolphin School site (and if necessary scooters could be parked in the new playground).
During the week of the move, staff will carry out a number of trial runs to ensure the smooth entrance and exit from school. The Caretaker will frequently check the access route. Weekly reviews and any necessary alterations will be made, to further increase safety.
Once the works have been completed we will be able to use the Bath Buildings entrance. Mobility impaired pupils can use the Bath Buildings entrance to the new school building from 25 April 2017. To ensure the safety of everyone, our plan is to stagger the arrival and departure times at the beginning and end of the school day. This will be active from 25 April 2017, please see below the interim travel plan timetable
