Following the move to our new school building we are currently accessing the building via the old Dolphin School entrance on Cheltenham Road and not via the new Bath Buildings. This is an interim arrangement until the road improvements have been made to make it safe for everyone.
We wanted to thank all the parents and carers who already using the interim arrival and departure plan, which staggers the arrival and departure times at the beginning and end of the school day. For new families or carers, please could I ask you take note of the interim travel plan below and ensure that you stick to these times and locations. Please note that the new building is accessed via an internal path which includes some stairs.
We also would like to emphasise the schools commitment to increase the levels of sustainable and active travel in order to improve the health and well-being of our children. We are proud of the families who have contributed to our Mode Shift Star Bronze award (insert link to https://modeshiftstars.org/) so please do consider the option of walking, cycling or taking public transport where possible.
As you may be aware, there have been some delays relating to the highway works which are out of the control of the school. Therefore, we will be using the Cheltenham Road entrance and we will access the new building via an internal access path (with stairs) until the road improvements are completed. It is anticipated that these road improvements will be undertaken during the school summer holidays when the roads are quieter. Safety & Parking Ensuring the safety of our children, parents, staff and the wider community is of great importance to us, especially during the interim access period. Therefore, we have put in place a number of measures to ensure that safety is our first priority.
Where possible, please park away from the school. Please do not park on or mount the pavements. We encourage walking, cycling and public transport. Please note bikes and scooters can be parked at the current Dolphin School site (and if necessary scooters could be parked in the new playground).
During the week of the move, staff will carry out a number of trial runs to ensure the smooth entrance and exit from school. The Caretaker will frequently check the access route. Weekly reviews and any necessary alterations will be made, to further increase safety.
Once the works have been completed we will be able to use the Bath Buildings entrance. Mobility impaired pupils can use the Bath Buildings entrance to the new school building from 25 April 2017. To ensure the safety of everyone, our plan is to stagger the arrival and departure times at the beginning and end of the school day. This will be active from 25 April 2017, please see below the interim travel plan timetable
