We expect all children to attend school on time every day. It is their right and your responsibility to ensure this.
Registers are taken twice a day, at 8.55am and 1.00pm. A day counts as two attendances.
Breakfast club gates open at 8am and shut at 8:10am
School gates will be open between 8.30-9.00am and 3.15-3.30pm.
In the afternoon children will be released from their classroom at 3.20pm.
Every effort should be made to ensure all doctor and other appointments are made outside of school hours. If a child enters or leaves the premises outside of school hours this must be through the School Office and they must be signed in or out.
In the interest of safeguarding if a child is unwell and will be absent from school the parent must call the School Office on 0117 910 8429 before 9.00am and then again on each subsequent day of the illness. If the Office does not receive a phone call the office will make every attempt to contact the parent/carer.
Please be aware that the School Office and not the Class Teacher must be informed of any absences due to illness or medical appointments.
Holidays in term time are not an entitlement and are strongly discouraged by the Government, Local Authority, Governors and School. The Head of School can authorise days off in exceptional circumstances. If you wish to remove your child from school for any reason during term time a ‘Request for Leave of Absence’, form (available from the website) must be completed in advance and submitted to the Head of School who will then base their decision on the circumstances of the absence, the pupil’s age and progress at school and their overall attendance record. Authorisation will not be given retrospectively.
The school and Governors will monitor attendance. Repeated absences or lates will trigger formal letters and meetings with the Head of School to discuss the issue. Fines will be administered for repeated unauthorised absences.
Children with 98-100% attendance records will receives certificates at the end of each term. Any child with 100% attendance at the end of the year will receive a special certificate in the final assembly of the Summer Term. The class with the best overall attendance will also be rewarded.
The school has an ambitious attendance target of 96.5%. We hope all parents will work with us to achieve this. Further information can be found in our full attendance policy.
